I just recieved this product, but honestly, I can tell it’s a very good kit already. It wasn’t what I was expecting but it serves it’s purpose. I was contemplating buying the Austin Bazaar 38″ Black Cutaway Guitar with Carrying Bag and Accessories for only $40 but after reading the negative reviews, I decided against it. Plus, it’s obvious they just want to get rid of them and make quick cash instead of actually selling a quality product. I mean, I’d rather pay a little more (I paid $94 on Amazon) for a QUALITY guitar than 40 dollars for something that will fall apart in a few weeks. The guitar itself is VERY nice – very good quality, beautiful wood and professional looking. It’s obvious Kona knows guitars. The only downside is that it doesn’t come with extra strings, a stand or a strap, but really that’s not going to cost more than $20 to buy. Plus, the book is great – funny, simple and the pictures are very helpful, and the CD helps too. So take your pick – if your really serious about playing, than pay a little more for a quality product.

I bought my Kona guitar two weeks ago, after researching the company on the web.
It’s just the right size for me, and stays in tune pretty well – very little adjustment on the keys.
I like the digital tuner that’s included in the kit. It’s much easier than using a pitch pipe.
I would suggest getting a hard case, though. The gig bag isn’t padded.

I’ve been a fan of the Dummies book series but was a little hessitant about this product. After careful review, and the price was nice, I made the purchase. Having never played the guitar before, with the help of the included book and cd, I am now in the process of teaching myself and it is going great thus far. I feel that the quality of the guitar is superb, I’ve even compared it to Fender. You get more for your money with this pack, and it’s perfect for anyone including the professional player.

Bought this set for my hubby as a birthday present. Arrived exactly on time and in amazing condition. Gig bag is kind of flimsy but since he won’t be traveling with it anytime soon it gets the job done. The book and accessories are awesome and really breaks everything down to help learning! Love it!

Traditionally a 5th anniversay gift is wood so I decided to get my husband a guitar starter kit nothing too fancy and I’m glad I chose Guitar for Dummies. It was a hit! The product was delivered in one piece, on time, and without any issues. This is a great starter guitar for my husband and he plays it everyday. Looks like my gift won this year =).

I know, buying a guitar on line and from Dummies? The quality of the guitar is very nice. I was surprised. This was purchased for my 13 yr. old daughter’s Christmas gift 2008. Since she has learned many songs and the sound and quality of the guitar are pretty darn good for the price. It is a good starter piece, without spending and arm and a leg for equipment and lessons. One thing I would do, it get a better case. You can always upgrade. I say try it!

I am the target audience for this set: I don’t know anything about playing the guitar, but would like to learn. I’ve had this for a few days and am entirely happy with it. The guitar – well, I have nothing to compare it with, but it’s physically attractive, feels good in my hands, and makes a lovely sound when I twang a string. I don’t know enough about guitars to be a fair judge, but there’s nothing obvious about it to make it inferior to the guitars of my friends who play, and in fact I like it better than some I’ve seen. The book and CD are simple enough for me to follow, and the digital tuner is simple to use. I’ve successfully tuned the guitar and learned how to play an E chord, so I’m feeling satisfied and accomplished. Everything arrived in excellent condition and ready to use, and I didn’t have to go buy anything else in order to get started.

I’ve had this guitar for about a month. It’s a nice looking instrument and sounds very good. I could not tune the guitar with the provided electronic tuner so I purchased a Korg GA-30 tuner and tuning was then easy. I recommend you purchase an electronic tuner with a meter as it makes tuning much easier. I had never played any type of musical instrument before but the book provided with this instrument is clear and concise. Overall I’m very pleased with everything except the tuner.

I’ve had this guitar for about a year now. For what little I paid for it, it’s a great buy! Within a week, I learned how to tune the strings and a few basic cords. That alone was worth the money. It is a pretty guitar with a nice sound. Be forewarned though that the “metal” pieces are actually plastic. I didn’t even notice it at first so it’s not a distraction at all. I think this is what keeps the price down. The main part of the guitar is some kind of pressed wood. But, it definitely serves its purpose. Also keep in mind, this kit will only work if you practice. I’m at the point now of graduating into a nicer quality guitar. However, if I was able to take actual guitar lessons, I’m sure my skills would be further along the road. Overall, this is a great beginner’s guitar. Even if you only play for a few weeks and put it down, it’s still worth the money.

I ordered this pack for my daughter this last Christmas. She loves it! It was an excellent buy. It came with everything listed and seems to be of good quality. The guitar seems to be of a sturdy design and construction and has beautiful sound (To us anyway). Even I am making an attempt to learn to play it. The book “Guitar for Dummies” is very informative and easy enough to follow. We are having great fun. Thanks, Amazon.
